A Life Worth Living



Just for today I will… is an easier mantra to recite and uphold than deliberating about my flaws. In fact, I have begun to awake each day with this statement of action to build momentum towards that which I would like to build a foundational change. I realize that I am not suppose to be perfect; no one is but just for today I will trust myself enough to trust my own intuition.


Stop listening to negative thoughts! Life experience guarantees that we will attract that which becomes our focus. If your focus is to graduate from from a program however, your constant thought is: Am I worthy enough, Am I skilled enough…your vibratory thoughts contradict your desired intention. So, the question sits in the shadows waiting to be asked: How can one create a purpose driven life focused with desired intent?

Start with the small things in life that make life worth living! Build yourself up by defining your worth one step at a time. Trying to tackle it all at once often times becomes a wrestling match. Instead of beating yourself up realize that just for today is enough of a task to try something new. Allow yourself to open to small successes each day knowing that with time you will begin to try on a new definition of self worth.

You Have Done Enough for Today!

Journeying through the seasons of life, we often times cling tenaciously to what we know to be familiar. It is instructive if not chilling to note that in the floral shops the roses that do not open are referred to as bullets. They are discarded after a time if not purchased. These buds have turned in on themselves so tightly that they can never release their sweet fragrance…
Consider the unfinished aspects of your life that you have sealed away. Is now the time to nurture those areas into full bloom? If not, can you reconstruct new scaffolding in your life that will support your desires?

Let’s take a look at how you structure your daily life. Organization, does it exist in your life? Too much or too little can create an imbalance. Scheduling time for tasks and time for play is necessary to creating a life worth living. Taking time for you to BE You is an essential ingredient to tasting the sweet nectar life has to offer. Seriously it’s not an enjoyable life if you are living on auto-pilot.

The sweet fragrance and colour of life is found in our trials as well as our triumphant moments. Life as a tendency to reintroduce us, time and time again, to our unfinished work; as if to deliver a second, if not third chance to demonstrate what skills we have acquired. Our blossoming is a developmental process that unfolds along life’s journey. Therefore, when we are in greatest need, it is nearly impossible to view ourselves with compassion from the slit of a narrowed mind, tensed for battle.  Surrendering to the great mystery that lies before us requires us to widen our perspective.


Autumn inspires us to look to nature for its secrets of the cycles of life. A fresh, new perspective on life comes to fruition during this time. Broaden your focus as you rediscover your own self-perspective. Now, with compassion you may begin to relax your blooms as you begin to unfold your petals. Release your sweet fragrance!

Grant Yourself Permission

“These are the things I learned (in Kindergarten):

1. Share everything.

2. Play fair.

3. Don’t hit people.

4. Put things back where you found them.


6. Don’t take things that aren’t yours.

7. Say you’re SORRY when you HURT somebody.

8. Wash your hands before you eat.

9. Flush.

10. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

11. Live a balanced life – learn some and drink some and draw some and paint some and sing and dance and play and work everyday some.

12. Take a nap every afternoon.

13. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.

14. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Stryrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

15. Goldfish and hamster and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup – they all die. So do we.

16. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first workd you learned – the biggest word of all – LOOK.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten


Leap of faith

Do you remember when you were a young child in school and you had a permission slip that you needed to get signed so that you could go on the class field trip? Now take a moment and recall the feeling of wonder when the permission slip was signed and off you went on the class field trip. Grant yourself permission ~in this moment~ to be yourself. Relax, trust the process, slow down enough to be aware of wonder!

A basic tenant to living an authentic life, wonder is built on the foundation of self-esteem. This is a concept most of us learn about even before we tackle the ABC’s and the sum of 1 + 1. In kindergarten, or even earlier, we are taught that self-esteem is an important part of our becoming a future success. To begin to rediscover the wonder in your life, begin with paying closer attention to your thoughts and opinions. Your soul has a voice, a Divine Voice, and if you don’t pay attention, you might miss out on the advice of a lifetime. Whose advice? Yours of course!

Synonymous with self-respect, esteem requires holding yourself in a high regard. Being aware that you are an important piece of life’s great puzzle requires an understanding that you have a place in this world that cannot be filled by anyone. Self-respect is a concept we learned when we were too young to have real questions. The world around us taught us the dynamics of interpersonal interactions. We grew up equating a high self-esteem with being happy and focused. While these are two great byproducts of self-esteem, but they do not always have to go hand in hand.

I am Feeling Overwhelmed!

What if the question is not why am I so infrequently the person I really want to be, but why do I so infrequently want to be the person I really am?

What if I told you, you are enough? There is nothing you must do or achieve to become more, just be in the moment. Step away from a life of overwhelm and into simply living with the idea that ‘You are enough.’ I am not asking you to take the easy way out of becoming but rather an acknowledgement of your essential true nature as a compassionate human being. The act if allowing this perception to take root creates an unfolding of your authentic true nature to spring forth.


Your definition of self essentially belongs to you. Anyone who claims to have the special ingredients that make up an authentic living is marketing to the very weaknesses that imprisoned your sense of self from the start. Overwhelm sets in when you feel you must meet requirements outside of your own definition of living. Instead, of fitting into someone else’s formula, consider your own belief system. True self-discernment is embedded in your individual perception. Within your control lies a choice to measure the cultural constraints in which you live by your own definition of self.


Defining yourself apart from the crowd is no easy journey; in fact many an inspiration has found its origin in breaking away from the norms of society. To move to the rhythms of your beat requires a leap of faith. When you choose to live in a manner that is consistent to your soul’s desire you rediscover that which you already knew as a child, “You are enough!” There is nothing you must do, nor requirements to fulfill. Taking a leap of faith is an invitation of discernment for your soul’s longing to BE.
